I showed up to a family gathering once and I saw one in the parking lot and thought “wow, that person is brave or really into VW repairs” and then my aunt stepped out. The aunt with like 10 kids (from 35 to 2) and only a so/so financial situation. I got a gut bomb of feels for them...last time I saw them it was gone. Such a poor choice for them.

I see those like...everyday.

I have no experience with Audi’s but everyone on this site makes me feel like owning 3 Toyota Siennas would be cheaper.

I see quite a few in my town. We used to have an Audi dealer here and I think they were bought by the “better than a Subaru Outback” crowd. True story.

Truly the automotive equivalent of Bigfoot.

Can confirm Allroad (un)reliability. My girlfriend’s uncle’s allroad had to have a full either engine or drivetrain replacement. I couldn’t really figure it out because her family doesn’t know much about cars. Her parents got it from her uncle and gave it to her brother who just moved alone halfway across the country. He had to either have the whole airbag suspension replaced or keep them completely aired up (don’t know the result). Wasn’t in a position to recommend anything but my fingers are crossed for his sake.

Ouch. Were those under warranty?

...in your secret Allroad shrine
...in which there are captive Allroads kept deep underground
...with German slave engineers and mechanics chained to their posts

No sir. He’s owned it since new and I believe the engine was in the last 3 years or so. The airbag problem happened a few months before they bought it off her uncle

Hahaha, just a ton of Audi owners at my work.
(Audi is one of our clients)

I think the Allroad is just proof that Audi hates Jalops... unless you count the A3 sportback (which is just a 5-door hatch, honestly).
Or is it proof that Audi loves Jalops? We all love cars that prove to be a pain in the ass for the vast majority of drivers.
Discuss.

So, IOW Politifact rates my claim mostly true.

Had a 2000, best car I’ve ever owned. Quick enough, rode nice, looked great...2.7T with a 6 speed in a station wagon is everything it’s cracked up to be.
Then the alternator died when it was due for a timing belt, and one of the front airbags ripped while the front end was up for the belt change. You know, because allroad.

Shit, I’ve had two in the shop this week. I mean, yes, they were in the shop, but technically they worked.

The latter depends on whether or not you can get an Allroad with a manual in brown, diesel form.
/Jalopnik’d
